World Records are made to be broken…even Eliud Kipchoge’s?
We didn’t break a world record, but we did set the record for the number of likes on Runner’s World Instagram so far this year. We surpassed Eliud Kipchoge’s World Record Marathon post which until this morning was the top post for 2018! At last count, Runner’s World followers liked our @wahoorun photo 36,068 vs. Eliud Kipchoge’s 35,400!
Who knew the running community and beyond would be so inspired by 3 little girls from Norman, OK, dressed up like their favorite marathoner, Shalane Flanagan?
We certainly didn’t. On Wednesday, we posted our typical WAHOO! Crush Wednesday. We crushed on Shalane Flanagan and had our girls wear their Halloween costumes. Halloween and the NYC Marathon occur on the same week, so it made sense to combine the two.
This gives the NYC Marathon’s #movedme tag a whole new meaning.
This is a costume that can really move you. There are so many conversations that can be had as a result of this choice. Choosing this costume leads to conversations about strength, discipline, determination, failure, resiliency, patience, power of team…the list goes on. We want our girls to know all of these things intimately. As we said in our twitter post, “SO much more than Halloween”…don’t you agree?
Lots of people have been moved. If you look on Twitter and Instagram, you will see for yourself. We’ve been moved by the response. This was one of our favorite responses…
In just two weeks, we’ll be crushing on Shalane in person at the New York City Marathon. Six WAHOO! runners will be there this year and five of us will be a part of Michelob Ultra’s Team Ultra with Shalane as our coach. We think it’s a wonderful opportunity to spread our vision, network with other runners, and be a part of this world class event. Stay tuned for updates. It’s been an amazing year for us and we look forward to seeing how this plays out! WAHOO!
